the pages are still blank, but there is a
miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and
clamoring to become visible...

Quote of The Day

“Passwords are like underwear”
1. Change it often.
2. Don’t leave it lying around.
3. Have a good combination and length.
4. Don’t share it with friends.
5. Be mysterious.

By Great Eastern’s IT Department. In an effort to ensure that the staffs are alert on the ‘strictly-no-sharing-password-or-ID’ policy. It’s in one of their training slides. I didn’t know IT people have some senses of humor. Always thought of them as persons with thick glasses, super-oily-centre-parting hair and will reply ur mail by one-liner. Not that punchy funny one liner. Something like,

Dear Zur (Don’t ask, I seriously don’t understand how the hell he invented Zur. Most people will go for the safest, Noor. He’s an IT guy. Dot.)

“Xitec database is up to 30th August 2007, so for softcopy inforce policies hit-list (one time) will be generated just after get confirmation from DBA side”

He’s speaking his alien language with me.

Come back to the humorous IT presenter guy. Good for him. The future of the IT clan in GE looks promising.

Mari Belajar Baca Jawi

I feel obliged to share. So, let see if you guys can read this signages. I took all these during my trip to Brunei.

Sunday, February 10, 2008

It’s been almost a month. Yes, I noticed that. I’ve been busy. Been drafting few times before but I decided none were good to be published.

Let see, what have happened since the last post? A lot actually. First thing first.

My Brunei Trip.
Alamak, its been almost 3 weeks ago, there’s no hype on it dah. Takpelah, just a brief on it. For pictures, check out my facebook page. Have quite a lot there. What can I say bout Brunei? As expected, it was rather quiet and calm-er than KL, obviously. But I had fun. Really I did. My main reason was to unwind & chill. And boy did I do just that... Stuffed myself with foods and coffee. Day in day out. What I love bout Brunei is they have lots I mean lots of good cafes (Read : Local Starbucks) serving good foods and drinks (halal ones! :p). So my days & nites at Brunei were rather hopping from one cafĂ© to another. Because the town is tiny, cafes are like next to each other, sort-of. I said tiny cause by the 2nd day, I can tell Nana which road to take. But hands down, coolness bout Brunei is that ALL of the signages are with jawi version. Really, really cool. I end up taking pictures of all the signages. The coolest ones would be ‘Biji Kopi & Daun Teh’ for Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, ‘Bank Seberang Laut Bersatu’ for United Overseas Bank (UOB). But mostly, they didn’t translate it to Malay first then jawikan. I've compressed some of the signages i've took, see if you guys can figure it out. Most of it was directly jawi-ed & sometimes its funny coz – imagine McDonald’s spelled mim-ya-kap-dal-wau-nun-lam-dal-sin. Could be pronounced as mikdunaldas. Hehehe. But still, I think we should do that here. Ask around, how many people nowadays know how to read jawi? Honestly. It’s a waste, really. I think so. I’m not even talking about reciting Quran here. So people, let’s vow to teach your child to read jawi. Eh, write sekalilah. Went to couple of Brunei’s famous tourist attraction places, of course. The Royal Regalia, the Yayasan Building, Kg Ayer. Got a chance to go to one of the beach, Berakas beach. Quite nice but the wave was rather ‘unfriendly’ to us. But I had fun nevertheless. There were not many people on the beach and only the 4 of us (me, Nana, Qeema & Raidee - Nana’s siblings). We were all jumping up and down in our bikini. In Brunei, mind you. Hehe. Oh, don’t worry about us get caught because of our skimpy clothing, cause over there – some of them thought we were Italian actresses. Me myself really couldn’t tell which part of us look Italian, but we took it as a compliment. Sure we did. I liked Brunei. But I can’t really see myself living there. Party and booze aside, all the cafes close around 1am. I mean, what if we’re hungry at 3am? I guess we Malaysian are just spoiled with mamaks. So, be grateful of your mamaks even though deep down you know they’re serving you with last week’s curry. Eeeeyeeewwww. Haha.
